Real Estate License

Question: Can someone with a felony get a realestate license in the state of Florida?

Answer: Yes, persons with a criminal history can apply for a real estate license in Florida; and as you might imagine each application is considered on a case by case basis.

However, it's important for the person with the felony conviction to fully disclose the particulars to the Florida Real Estate Commission, the office that governs and licenses real estate agents. Misleading information about the situation could result in an automatic denial of the application.

On a personal note, I have known several licensed agents who had felony convictions before getting licensed to sell real estate in Florida. Consequently, I know it's not just a theoretical response.

If you'd like more information please feel free to call the Commission at 850.487.1395. I'm sure they'll be willing to answer any questions that you might have.
