I have a misdemeanor...
by: Anonymous

I have just passed my real estate classes and PSI exam. I have found a broker willing to take me on, but I have a misdemeanor on my record. I am 24 now, got it when I was 18 for shoplifting :(. I haven't had any issues before or since then, but I am worried now. Any advice or insight? Thanks

Response. Be sure to disclose the offense on your licensing application and respond truthfully whenever the issue may come up.

If you're really worried about it some states will allow you to seal/expunge one time violations. I suggest that you consult with an attorney and/or your state licensing board and explore your options.

Again, I'll have to express that in the end honesty is the best policy - so hold nothing back, as your career may depend on it.
